Shrimp cocktail with whiskey-cocktail sauce

- 75 ml fresh whipped cream
- 2 el whiskey
- 2 el ketchup
- 4 el mayonnaise
- 100g Dutch shrimp
- 1 head of lettuce
- Pepper to taste
- Salt to taste
- Possibly lemon juice
- 4 cocktail glasses
Today is world whiskey day, a specific day to honour this mighty drink. We will do this by making a simple, but delicious dish. We will make a shrimp cocktail, with the famous whiskey cocktail sauce.
A shrimp cocktail is ideal as a starter on parties, during the holidays or when you just want to go all out for diner. Basically it is very simple. You make a whiskey cocktail sauce and fill up a cocktail glass with the other ingredients. I am going to tell you exactly how to do this. It is quick, it is easy and it will definitely add to your prestige.
Firstly, whisk the whipped cream. When you have done this for a couple of minutes, you can add the other sauce ingredients. Add the mayonnaise and the ketchup. At the same time, add the ingredient of the day. If you want to create a nice buzz to start the main course, you can play with the amount of whiskey, Watch out though; the taste of the sauce can get whipped out if you use too much whiskey. Mix the sauces and the whiskey well so it will get the nice pink colour. You could use some pepper, salt and maybe some lemon juice to bring it up to the right taste.
Now clean the shrimps and let them drain out for a little bit. Also do this with the lettuce. Rip apart some leaves from the lettuce, wash these and dry them. Make sure that for every shrimp cocktail you have at least one good-looking leaf, possibly two. Cut the rest into shreds, you can use these to fill up the cocktail.
When the lettuce and the shrimps are dry, you can fill up the cocktail glasses. First put in the big leaf. Add some shrimps to this, and add some shredded lettuce. Repeat these steps until it is a nice mixture of the ingredients. Also add the sauce in between these repetitions. Finish it off with some basil and parsley. Cut them up nicely and divide it on top of the cocktail.
There you go. You’ve made a delicious and simple starter that will definitely impress your friends. You can also vary with veggies. The base of this dish is the sauce with the shrimps, but with the veggies you can play endlessly.
