Directions

Tiramisu, a delicious Italian dessert that many people know. For Saint Nicholas, everyone has a struggle with which dessert to make, so I have the perfect solution, pepernoten (spicy nuts) tiramisu. The well-known and delicious Italian recipe with a Dutch twist. Who wouldn't want to try this. It sounds great right?

We use Amaretto for this recipe. This is an almond liqueur. Do you want to make this and the children also enjoy it? Then you haven’t use the Amaretto. It’s still super tasty.

Now let's get started. Make a strong cup of coffee (espresso). Set this aside for a moment, we don't have to worry about this, but it is important that you do it first because it has to be cool in the end. Split the eggs and store the egg whites and egg yolks in a separate bowl.

It’s important that you put the egg whites in a bowl that is completely fat-free. Add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and beat with a hand mixer until you can hold it upside down. If you can do this, you know it's right. Grab the egg yolks and mix this with the mascarpone and the sugar. Make this a smooth whole. Now we can mixing the egg whites and egg yolks. Mix this by hand (with a spatula) so that the proteins remain well airy.

Pour the cooled coffee into a deep plate or bowl and add the Amaretto. Dip the pepernoten (spicy nuts) one by one into the coffee mixture. Cover the bottom of the square bowl with the spicy nuts. Do this decently in a row, because that just looks nicer.

Divide ⅓ of the mixture over the pepernoten (spicy nuts). And repeat these 2 steps twice. So again new pepernoten ( spicy nuts ) and then ⅓ of the mixture and so on. If everything is okay, you end up with the mixture on top. Writer some dark chocolate and divide on top of the mixture.

Leave this in the fridge for at least 3 hours, cover it with some aluminum foil. Are the 3 hours gone? Then sprinkle some extra pieces of pepernoten (spicy nuts) over it for some decoration.

Enjoy your meal! Tip: don't have a hand mixer? Then use a whisk. It takes a bit more effort and strength, but this is also possible!
